Welcome to my website!
I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at Aalto University and a Research Fellow at the AXA Gender Lab at Bocconi University.
I am an applied microeconomist. My research uses administrative and survey data to study the economic determinants of intimate partner violence, the effects of gender-balancing policies in politics and the labor market, and gender gaps in education.
I hold a PhD in Economics from the European University Institute in Fiesole (Florence), Italy. My supervisors were Sule Alan and Andrea Ichino. I was a visiting student at the London School of Economics during Fall 2021.
My research interests are:
Intimate partner violence: economic determinants of perpetration and victimization; financial distress; sentencing policy.
Gender economics: gender quotas in politics and management; workplace discrimination; family-formation policy.
Economics of education: gender differences in time use, achievement, and labor market entry.
A full list of my papers is on the Research page. You can find my CV here and reach me at olivia.masi@aalto.fi.
